Ruth Swinney
I qualified at the British School of Osteopathy in London in 1994 and ran my own practice in the UK before immigrating to New Zealand in 2008 with my family.
I worked in partnership with Joanne Caudle at Beach Osteopathic Centre until October 2024 when we decided to set up our own osteopathic practices. Kapiti Osteopathic Services was born with a relocation to working from my home.
My special interests lie in the treatment of musculoskeletal changes associated with aging and sports injuries. I mostly treat using a structural approach with soft tissue and articulation techniques, but I will also use manipulation if appropriate. Rehabilitation advice and exercises are also an important focus of a consultation. I do not treat babies or very young children.
Outside of work, I sail a high-performance trapeze dinghy competing at national level, and coach sailing at Paremata Boating Club where I am a member. I also enjoy gardening, needlework and cycling.
